Jacob Appelbaum meets Carl Bildt
Jacob Appelbaum meets Swedish FM Carl Bildt and discusses Julian Assange.
Tonight I spoke with
at the Stockholm City Hall - I asked him to support Julian Assange and Bradly Manning. He refused.

I asked for clarification about why Sweden won't send people to question Julian in London as they do in other cases.
22/05/2013 06:09:42 WIB
I also asked if Sweden would extradite Julian Assange to the US when we operate death camps (eg:
) and have the death penalty.
22/05/2013 06:10:38 WIB
The response from
was essentially that we all know what will happen to Julian Assange. Chilling.

on this issue? Does Sweden really refuse to comment about extradition of journalists facing harm?
22/05/2013 06:15:27 WIB
There is a happy compromise to be made -
could easily question Julian in the Ecuadorian embassy - in service of justice.

By questioning Julian in the Ecuadorian Embassy,
will move the case forward. It also mitigates concerns of extradition to the US.

Julian and Manning are suffering injustice.
has the power to speak out against their torture and the criminalizing of journalism.

Whenever one might say these things, politely and firmly, I encourage it. Especially when the people are powerful and the cause is Just.

I also asked about Anakata and how it was that he was kidnapped from Cambodia - I was told it was legal, though no specific law was cited.
22/05/2013 06:29:53 WIB
When we see that States are not proportional in how power is wielded, such as in the case of Manning, Anakata, and Assange, please speak up!
22/05/2013 06:32:08 WIB
I should clarify, I was personally invited to the
event at Stockholm City Hall tonight. I did not crash it looking for trouble.
22/05/2013 06:37:02 WIB
On Internet Freedom, we must remember that the cases of Manning, Anakata, and Assange are persecutions that chills speech on the internet.
