(1) APA ITU DEHYDRATED SKIN ? Basically, kulit kita ada oil-moisture balance dia yang tersendiri. Walaubagaimanapun, keadaan ini boleh berubah disebabkan beberapa faktor termasuklah perubahan persekitaran (cuaca, tempat kerja etc.), skincare routine (penggunaan produk baru etc.)

Apabila natural oil-moisture balance ini terganggu, kulit akan mengalami perubahan. Your skin will turn dry, oily or even both with dehydration as cherry on top. Biasanya dehydrated skin dikaitkan dengan oily skin, tp tidak semestinya sebab semua orang boleh alami dehydration.

(2) TANDA-TANDA KULIT KITA DEHYDRATED ✨ a) Kulit nampak kusam 🙁 - Bila kulit dehydrated, kulit akan nampak kusam. Nampak macam kita sakit, nampak constantly penat. b) Kulit rasa ketat & pedih 💢 - Kadang-kadang sampai nak gerakkan mulut pun rasa macam nak terkoyak kulit !

c) Kulit jadi extremely berminyak but still feels tight 💆 - Apabila kulit dehydrated, kulit akan hantar signal ke otak yang kulit kita kekurangan moisture. Jadi sebaceous gland dlm kulit akan produce more sebum untuk counter kekeringan tu & result in increased oil production.

d) Kulit jadi flaky & dry patches can be seen 🏜 - Kulit mula menggelupas atau jadi scaly (macam sisik ikan/kulit ular) especially di bahagian tepi hidung & mulut. e) Prone to breakout - Bila balance kulit ke laut, maka lagi mudah nak breakout. Tiny bumps may also appear.

So how exactly do we fix this problem ? (3) HOW TO FIX DEHYDRATED SKIN ✨ a) Keep your skin hydrated 🌧 - Major LOL but this is serious 😂. Caranya ialah kita restore balik hydration yang hilang dengan cara feeding the skin with products that are rich of humectants.

Humectants adalah salah satu kategori moisturizer, alongside emollient & occlusives. Humectants bekerja dengan cara menarik (pull) water from the environment & deeper layers of the skin to the epidermis. Contoh humectants : - Glycerin - Hyaluronic Acid - Aloe vera - Sodium PCA

You can basically use anything as your hydrator. Boleh guna essence, ampoule or serums. Hydrating toners are also great ! My personal favorite will always be Hada Labo lotions. Rich (red line) & Premium (yellow bottle) are my jam ! ✨ Kalau essence, I suka Secret Key STE. pic.twitter.com/ibebxrJllo

Mulakan dengan 1 layer of hydrator & perhatikan how your skin reacts. U can increase the amount of layers to 3-7 layers. Adjust mengikut keselesaan kulit. Toner masking is great too ! Soak your compressed mask/cotton pads dgn hydrating toner/essence & tempek kat muka for 10mins.

b) Minum air secukupnya 💧 Sejujurnya ia tidaklah membantu sangat compared topical hydrators tapi if you drink enough water you'll see the difference it makes to your skin, your body & your overall health. 8 gelas sehari. Jngan kurang & jngan berlebihan pula. Keep it moderate !

c) Avoid or minimize the usage of drying products in your routine. - Elakkan penggunaan astringent secara berlebihan. Astringent biasanya tinggi kandungan volatile alcohol or in case of natural astringent, witch hazel. They are great in providing quick, temporary fresh feeling.

However, they can also be VERY drying as it strips off not only your natural skin oils, but also moisture. Boleh guna, tapi berpada & MAKE SURE you hydrate your skin afterwards. Penggunaan acne treatment like tea tree oil, benzoyl peroxide & salicylic acid pun perlu berpada.

You also need to be careful dengan penggunaan essential oils as they're can be very drying & irritating to some people. Contoh essential oil yang biasa ditemui dalam skincare : 🍀 Tea tree oil 🍀 Lavender oil 🍀 Bergamot Oil 🍀 Eucalyptus oil 🍀 Peppermint oil

d) Use humidifier 🌫 - Kalau rumah/bilik are all air conditioned, do yourself a favor & buy a humidifier. Yang murah @ Shopee or Lazada pun dah memadai. This is to avoid your skin daripada jadi lagi kering & dehydrated. This is also very helpful time demam (legakan tekak kering).

e) Use a moisturizer 🛡 - After all that hydrating, humidifying action, kalau you tak guna moisturizer to seal everything in, maka sia-sia lah segalanya. Moisturizer perlu ada to seal everything in. Moisture boleh escape kalau tidak ada lapisan yang menghalang dia drpd "lari".

You can use any moisturizer tak kira texture asalkan dia ada the perfect balance of humectants, emollients & occlusives. If you wanted to choose certain ingredient, I personally recommend : ⚡ Ceramides ⚡ Fatty acids ⚡ Urea ⚡ Beta Glucan ⚡ Niacinamide

Also tambah sikit, f) Use a gentle cleanser - Make sure your cleanser is low pH, non drying & free from ingredients yg you tak boleh guna. g) Avoid excessive usage of exfoliant - Limitkan penggunaan exfoliant to once a week & focus more on hydration dahulu buat sementara waktu.
