Whenever hear Egy MOI operating solo I wonder what was the chain of command+whether action coordinated. Were mil police involved in Tahrir?

Egypt is woefully prepared for elections that are due in 9 days. And to think that MOI is essentially tasked with administering them.

@Bassem_Sabry If reliable, that's a really serious development.

Michael Hanna @mwhanna1

@Bassem_Sabry do you know if the military police have been involved in the crackdown today?

20/11/2011 01:32:22 WIB
Michael Hanna @mwhanna1

I think its possible that MOI has been acting unilaterally. Don't believe deteriorating security+delayed elections are something SCAF want

Return to normalcy in #Tahrir. >500 injured, and what lesson learned? Aggressive riot police action is provocative.

@bungdan as usual, conspiracy theories abound, but in totally different direction

The women of downtown were at the forefront of fighting in some places in and around #Tahrir today.

RT @AlHofheinz: @acarvin @rehab_elbakry yes, water is cut around Tahrir. Has been cut in Garden City since around noon.

Elijah Zarwan @elijahzarwan

@mwhanna1 Why? Of course they don't want to do that dirty work, and rightly so.

20/11/2011 03:02:52 WIB
Michael Hanna @mwhanna1

@elijahzarwan Their total absence all day raises a question regarding coordination or lack thereof

20/11/2011 03:10:06 WIB
Michael Hanna @mwhanna1

@elijahzarwan Unless, of course, the SCAF simply misjudged the possible reaction.

@mwhanna1 Think I see where you're going, and, yes, that was a topic of conversation here tonight.

Michael Hanna @mwhanna1

@elijahzarwan I have a basic question as to who gives orders/directives to MOI and who exercises actual control of Amn al Markazy

Elijah Zarwan @elijahzarwan

@arabist @mwhanna1 @evanchill @joshuahersh i assume no csf order to clear by force w/o scaf approval.

Renewed clashes in area between MOI, Talaat Harb, #Tahrir.

Michael Hanna @mwhanna1

@elijahzarwan @arabist @evanchill @joshuahersh But that begs ? of what SCAF was after deploying CSF at a critical moment as elections near
