Looking up information on ACL injuries again - will probably write a blog - best female athlete I've ever coached is 8th grader-just tore it
Clarence Gaines @ClarenceGaines2
Her name is Eleni, she actually is one of the best athletes I've ever coached, male or female. My heart goes out to her.
Clarence Gaines @ClarenceGaines2
Cracked the sub 60 barrier in 400 meters as a 6th grader & ran under 59 last year. Plays soccer & has the heart of a lion.
Clarence Gaines @ClarenceGaines2
Extremely coachable - treasures her gift & is a great teammate and competitor. It's been my honor to coach her in basketball & track.

Parents did a lot of preventive stuff to reduce the risk of this happening. To receive their letter last night that it actually happened,
Clarence Gaines @ClarenceGaines2
demonstrates how epedemic ACL injuries are among young female athletes. The PEP program is touted as a preventive measure, but @coachgambetta

@ClarenceGaines2 @DTRAINED Most girls, I don't care how athletic, move poorly. Girls I work with most would call athletic; can't move at all

@ClarenceGaines2 @DTRAINED Girl tore her ACL in my undergrad soccer class last week; she was bumped slightly w/a slight twist. Her 2nd tear.
Clarence Gaines @ClarenceGaines2
@brianmccormick @DTRAINED Reason I chose Eleni in BB draft was because of how she moved, this was as a 4th grader, girl could play def.
Clarence Gaines @ClarenceGaines2
@brianmccormick @DTRAINED Good lateral movement. well trained, just a stud, but I was surprised about one thing when she was young - her
Clarence Gaines @ClarenceGaines2
@brianmccormick @DTRAINED jumping mechanics, specifically when attempting to make a left hand layup. found it odd, for a girl so gifted.
D-TRAIN @DTRAINED
@ClarenceGaines2 @brianmccormick there are so many who aren't taught proper mechanics, combined with imbalances that make injury more likely
Clarence Gaines @ClarenceGaines2
@wparker Mainly tweeting about ACL injuries today. Special 8th grader I know just tore her ACL.
