Scriptshadow is a producer?

Scriptshadow is apparently a "producer" now. Also, he charges $1000 for 4 pages of notes on your script.
Carson Reeves @Scriptshadow

Today's article is about seeing writing from the producing end. It's a whole new ball of wax! -

Here's what a producer doesn't do: charge money to read or give you notes on a script.

Brian Michael Scully @brianscully

@johngary he also doesn't ask random followers on twitter for advice on whether or not a writer should get representation to do submitting.

Would you board a plane if the guy in the big seat says he's not totally sure what a pilot does?

Brian Michael Scully @brianscully

@johngary also: how was he unaware until now that, in credit power, producer > executive producer? Like… I knew that when I was EIGHT…

@BittrScrptReadr I was so supportive for a long time, but man, my jaw just hit the floor while I was reading that.

Xander Bennett @XanderBennett

@johngary @BittrScrptReadr This is potentially a big problem. I think the right thing to do would be to shut down his script notes service.

Brian Michael Scully @brianscully

@Scriptshadow unless you're ready to completely stop taking money for reads/notes, you're walking into a minefield of pure ethical fuckery.

07/09/2012 02:38:38 WIB
John Gary @johngary

@XanderBennett It isn't "potentially" problematic here - this is no-question-about-it unethical from top to bottom, full stop, end of story.

John Gary @johngary

There is nothing enigmatic about what you're doing -- it is all reprehensible. @Scriptshadow. cc: @brianscully

07/09/2012 02:44:03 WIB
John Gary @johngary

@Scriptshadow You can -- by never ever ever accepting money for reading scripts again. Ever.

07/09/2012 02:47:59 WIB
Xander Bennett @XanderBennett

@Scriptshadow Because I worry about desperate writers paying for your notes because of the implied possibility of production.

07/09/2012 02:46:27 WIB
Carson Reeves @Scriptshadow

@XanderBennett I think I'm going to have to figure that out over the next few months leading up to the launch of the prodco.

07/09/2012 02:48:48 WIB
Carson Reeves @Scriptshadow

@XanderBennett all of this is a huge learning experience and the blog angle makes it sort of unique.

07/09/2012 02:49:36 WIB
John Gary @johngary

@Scriptshadow @xanderbennett no it doesn't -- your craven script notes service makes it unique.

07/09/2012 02:50:33 WIB
Xander Bennett @XanderBennett

@Scriptshadow Your mission has always been to help amateur writers, but I think this could hurt them more than it helps.

07/09/2012 02:47:54 WIB
John Gary @johngary

@XanderBennett It isn't about separation- it's about a complete divorce. A producer cannot have any association with a paid reading service.

07/09/2012 02:49:44 WIB
Carson Reeves @Scriptshadow

@johngary Yeah, I was telling Xander, it's going to be a learning experience. I will consider everything, but also rule nothing out.

07/09/2012 02:50:11 WIB
Xander Bennett @XanderBennett

@Scriptshadow Good man. I'm sure it will be tough to leave behind, but I think it might be the right thing to do.

07/09/2012 02:50:18 WIB
John Gary @johngary

@Scriptshadow I will be the fly on your ass until you do the ethically correct thing here.

07/09/2012 02:51:37 WIB
Carson Reeves @Scriptshadow

@johngary There are a lot of flies on my ass though! I hope you don't get lost.

07/09/2012 02:55:04 WIB
John Gary @johngary

@Scriptshadow Don't worry. I am very large and I hurt when I land on you.
